'Still got the blues' quilt
I just found this pic of my favourite blue quilt. It's all hand quilted but very random - no lines were marked - no plan was made. The light outside blocks were originally all light (9-patch) squares, then I decided it might look better with blues in the centre ... so I actually took the whatever-was-there squares out ... and replaced them with blue! But I think you'll agree, it looks better this way!

Beaches
This quilt was made with cobblestone blocks swapped through online group, SCQ (Southern Cross Quilters). The theme was 'blues and sandy colours' and each person swapped a 'set' of two blocks - one positive and one negative version of two fabrics. This is an amazingly adaptable block and so easy to make.

Most of the centre blocks were swapped, but I made most of the surrounding border blocks and all the turquoise and blue blocks at the bottom. Speaking of bottoms, I decided to leave the lovely ragged wadding hanging loose because it kind of reminded me of splashing surf! One day I'll get over it and bind it properly, but for now it makes me giggle ...

Beaches, raggedy bottom!

It's machine and hand quilted with some raw selvedges inserted into the seams for extra texture.

The title comes from the movie 'Beaches', which I loved, starring Bette Midler. Reminds me of my best friend from primary school and me (not saying which one was me!!!).
